17th globe

Permanent installation at Miyagi Sant Juan Bautista Museum, in Ishinomaki. We created an educational installation of an about 3 meter diameter hemispherical screen with a projection mapping of a 17th century world map.  Along with the grand scale of the journey of the “Keicho mission to Europe,” which spanned halfway around the globe, the installation intuitively conveyed the steps taken by the delegation and their historical significance. We also developed a system in which the guide lights at your feet serve as affordances, guiding you to the current point of your journey. It was intended that the content would be both visually surprising and easy to understand.
